PURPOSE: To enable high speed printing by low energy while enhancing resolving power by providing a thermal transfer ink layer containing at least one kind of a phenol compd. showing a specific solubility parameter and a specific m.p. on a polyester film being a support. CONSTITUTION: A thermal transfer recording material enabling high speed printing by low energy is obtained by providing a thermal transfer ink layer containing a phenol compd. having a solubility parameter of 9.0-10.3 and an m.p. of 60-85 deg.C on a polyester film being a support. As the phenol compd., one with a mol.wt. of 180-250 is used. The thermal transfer ink layer contains a dye and/or pigment, a thermal resin with a softening point of 60-120 deg.C and wax with an m.p. of 60-120 deg.C. Further, in this thermal transfer recording material, a hot-melt release layer containing the phenol compd. is provided on the film if necessary and the thermal transfer ink layer is provided thereon. |
