<p>PURPOSE: To produce hard aggregate similar to natural stones using a small apparatus and a little energy by discharging a slug in a short time, preventing a quick cooling after block formation and keeping the block at a predetermined temperature in producing the aggregate from molten slug made by melting burned ash, etc., by a submerged arc electric furnace. CONSTITUTION: This method for producing massive artificial aggregate for concrete is to produce molten pig iron 8 from burned ash 7, etc., added with coke breeze by melting and reducing an easily reducible metal oxide in an electric melting furnace 1 and, at the same time, a molten slug 9 containing SiO2 , etc., as main components and no above mentioned metal components, discharge the slug 6 at every 2--3 hours, extract in a short time in order to suppress heat radiation from the slug 6, put the slug into metal moldings 2a having preheated sand on their floors to form blocks of the slug having coagulated surface, cover the slug with the preheated sand 12 and cool the slug by air during transformation, crush the slug block, remove the mixed sand, accumulate the crushed slug into a rotating furnace 6A before the temperature falls down to <=800 deg.C and keep the massive slug at 800-900 deg.C atmosphere for 3-4 hours.</p> |
