PURPOSE: To obtain an extract composition, containing a hot water extract of Aspalathus linealis as an active ingredient, excellent in suppressing effects on degeneration of a normal cell and preventing effects on side effects of medicines and useful for the medicines, cosmetics, functional foods, feed additives for animals, etc., having the effects. CONSTITUTION: This extract of Aspalathus linealis is a composition obtained by heating a dried leaf of the Aspalathus linealis which is a medicinal plant in hot water for several min or more, then removing undissolved substances and drying the resultant extract. The extract composition contains at least 7±0.5% proteins, 9±0.5% tannic substances, 60±10mg P ingredient, 11±1mg Fe, 185±5mg Ca, 340±10mg Na, 345±10mg K, 180±10mg Mg, 2±0.1ppm Cu, 7±0.2ppm Zn, 55±1ppm Mn and 42±5mg flavonoids (quercetin) based on 100g dried leaf. The dosage form of the extract composition is an oral agent, a parenteral injection, a suppository, a skin preparation for external use, etc., as a medicine, a facial pack, toilet water, a lipstick, a face powder, etc., as a cosmetic, a powder, a capsule, a tablet, a solution, an additive food, etc., as a functional food. |
