PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new protein having a specific amion acid sequence, derived from Entomopoxvirus, capable of increasing the infection efficiency of nuclear polyhedrosis virus to insects or insect-derived cells, and capable of modifying a gene in terms of protein engineering technique and altering host specificity. CONSTITUTION: This protein has an amino acid sequence containing an amino acid sequence of the formula. The new protein produced by Entomopoxvirus has an action to increase the infection efficiency of nuclear polyhedrosis virus to insects or insect-derived cell lines, enables the massproduction of a nuclear polyhedrosis virus infection promotive substance by making use of a gene coding this protein, and is hopeful to alter the host specificity of the virus through modifying the gene in terms of protein enginnering technique. This protein is obtained by the following process: an embedded body is isolated from armyworm larvae infected with Entomopoxvirus and the aimed protein is isolated from the embedded body and purified; or, genome DNAs are isolated from the embedded body and screened to sort the gene for the aimed protein and the gene is then manifested in a host. |
