PURPOSE: To obtain the subject metal salt having excellent shortage stability and coloring sensitivity, useful as an electron accepting compound by treating a specific salicylic acid derivative and another carboxylic acid derivative with a polyvalent metal compound. CONSTITUTION: This mixed metal salt is obtained by treating (A) a salicylic acid derivative of the formula (R11 is H, an alkyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; R12 is an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; X11 and X12 are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an aralkyl, an aryl or a halogen; Y11 and Y12 are each O or S) [e.g. 3-(isopropyloxycarbonylamino)salicylic acid] and (B) another carboxylic acid derivative (e.g. benzoic acid) respectively as a water-soluble salt of the component A and a water-soluble salt of the component B, in the presence of water, with (C) a polyvalent metal compound (e.g. zinc sulfate), for example, at 0-100 deg.C for 30 minutes to 2 hours. The molar ratio of the component A:B is 50:50 and the amount of the component C used is preferably 0.3-3mols based on 1mol of the total of the components A and B. |
