The device comprises a spool (2) with the wrapping film (3) for wrapping a load. The width of the spool is less than the height of the load, usually a third. A trolley (4) is adapted to be guided and moved around the load by a walking driver pushing vertical driven bars (46-48), horizontally separated.The trolley comprises a chassis (5) with wheels (6), on which a vertical guide (8) is fixed containing the support (7) for the spool. The chassis also contains a roller (49) for braking and applying the wrapping film. The braking roller freely pivots around a vertical axis located at a side end part of the chassis.
