The immobiliser consists of an inflatable cushion (1) to support the arm and straps (4-9) to fasten the arm to the cushion and the cushion to the patient. The cushion is rectangular in shape when flat, and the straps are six in number and fastened by hooked pile fastener strips or buckles. The long sides of the cushion measure between 20 and 70 cm., and preferably 40 cm., while its short sides measure between 10 and 40 cm., and are preferably 30 cm. Each of the straps is preferably 50 cm. long.
