The window insert has a panel (4) mounted in the frame (3) of at least one of the rotating or tilting casements of a window. The panel has a flange (9) on its inside, to which equipment hoses can be fitted, and which surrounds an aperture (5).The insert may have a flap (6) to prevent back flow, which may be flush with the outer surface of the panel and may be contained inside the flange. A grid-like object may also be fitted instead of the flap. The panel and the flange may be made from metal or plastic, or a combination of both materials. Their colour may match that of the frame, or may be made from transparent plastics.
