Reagent for determn. of polycarboxylates in water consists of an aq. soln. of 2-20 g/l EDTA.Na4, 30-70 g/l soluble salt (I) of a 3-6C hydroxycarboxylic acid and 5-10 g/l quat. organic ammonium salt (II). Also claimed is a method of determining polycarboxylates in concns. of up to 20 ppm in water.
