SOLID LUBRICANT AND METHOD FOR ITS PREPARATION

The invention concerns the field of the extrusion of rod-like shaping material and the field of lubricants therefor. The solid lubricant according to the invention can be applied to the shaping material in order to render possible or facilitate extrusion. The solid lubricant is characterized in that one or a plurality of solid substances used as lubricant for extrusion processes is processed so as to form shaped bodies. Each batch of shaped bodies consists of shaped bodies having the same or different geometry and/or size, so as to avoid dust-producing fractions. The surfaces of the shaped bodies can be hardened or coated with a protective layer in order to prevent or reduce wear or fracturing. The shaped bodies can also be coated or impregnated with a hydrophobic substance or a non-hygroscopic or only slightly hygroscopic substance. During production, the shaped bodies are manufactured, in a manner such that dust-producing fractions are avoided, by shaping processes, such as powder compaction to form pellets, granulates, briquettes or fabricated parts.
