摘要 |
As the ignition point (12) of a bolt or a similar item contacts the workpiece surface and the capacitor discharge is initiated, the resultant welding current locally evaporates the ignition point, and an electric arc is formed between the bolt and the workpiece surface. After this the bolt is joined with the molten phase of the workpiece. The individual constituents of the welding process i.e. ignition, welding and joining are adapted to the material-dependent parameters of the bolt and the workpiece. In partic., the welding process is greatly influenced by the electric resistance of the ignition point. This resistance is a function of the bolt material and the point geometry. Mathematical expressions are derived for the point diameter (d) and its length (l), with (d) less than or equal to (l).
