Godet roller giving smooth thread run=off to high draw speeds

The godet roller for the supply of thread has a structured surface cover where it comes into contact with the thread. Here, the surface cover (1) has, pref. regularly arranged, depressions (2). Pref. the depressions are spherical in cross-section and have identical dimensions (11), i.e. a central depth (12) w.r.t. the roller surface of between 0.4 and 1.5, pref. 0.6 and 1.2 mm and a spherical radius (10) between 8 and 45, esp. between 15 and 32 mm. Alternatively the depressions are flattened helical grooves with parallel edges extending in a direction along the roller length where, w.r.t. a plane laid on the edges, the grooves have a depth of between 0.1 and 1.2, pref. 0.2 and 0.8.
