A process for producing a directional electrical sheet excellent in glass coating and magnetic properties by coating a steel sheet with an anneal-separating agent, followed by finish annealing and baking with an insulation coating agent, characterized by coating the sheet after decarburization annealing with an anneal-separating agent comprising 100 parts by weight of MgO and 0.015-0.120 part by weight (in terms of F, Cl, Br or I) of a halogen element selected from among F, Cl, Br and I or a component thereof, followed by finish annealing.
