COMPOSITE SLIDING CONTACT BEARING

A plain bearing comprises a metal backing, a bearing lining formed from an alloy based on aluminium or on copper, and an overlay either directly plated on to the bearing lining, or plated on to an interlayer which is itself plated on to the bearing lining. The overlay comprises an alloy of zinc with 0.5 to 25 % by weight of a metal selected from nickel, cobalt and iron.
