PURPOSE: To easily enhance utilization efficiency of ultraviolet rays generated by discharge by expanding the phosphor applied surface area by the extent that the surface areas of phosphor applied members are put together from only an inner wall of an airtight vessel. CONSTITUTION: In an airtight vessel 1, a construction material is made of light transmissive soda lime glass or the like, and a layer of a three-wave length rare earth phosphor 2 being a phosphor is formed on an inner wall 1a, and for example, Ar gas is sealed inside the vessel 1 as discharge gas. An induction coil 3 to which a high frequency current is flowed is arranged on the airtight vessel 1 so as to surround its outer peripheral surface, and a base 7 to fix a lamp is arranged in a lower part being one end side of the vessel 1. Inside of the vessel 1, the phosphor 2 applied surface area is expanded by the extent that surfaces of bar-shaped bodies 6a being phospher applied members 6 are put together from only an inner wall 1a of the vessel 1 by the phosphor 2 applied bar shaped bodies 6a, and utilization efficiency of ultraviolet rays generated by discharge increases, and light emitting efficiency is enhanced. |
