PURPOSE: To correct an outline not only in a main scanning direction, but also in a subscanning direction by using a special optical modulation element such as liquid crystal, etc. CONSTITUTION: The electrophotographic printer is provided with a light source constituted of a semiconductor laser oscillator 3 for interrupting in accordance with an image signal, a collimator lens 2 for collimating luminous fluxs from the light source so as to obtain collimated laser beams 6 and a polygon mirror 4 for reflecting the collimated laser beams 6 and scanning in the horizontal width direction. Further, the printer is provided with an optical scanning means constituted of an fθlens 5 for correcting laser scanning beams 7 scanned by the polygon mirror 4 so as to attain constant-speed scanning and for forming an image and the liquid crystal 1 installed just behind the collimator lens 2 and prepared for dividing the collimated laser beams 6 in two, or into plural parts in the vertical direction and for interrupting or transmitting the beams 6, and an electrophotographic recording means having charging, exposure, developing and fixing processes.
