PURPOSE: To make a jig for iron manufacture light in weight, to avoid hard labor on the occasion of removing slag, to improve erosion resistance and also to make the jig usable for a long period by forming the jig for iron manufacture out of a titanium alloy having an oxide film of a specified numeric value (μm) or above provided on the surface. CONSTITUTION: A jig for iron manufacture made of iron or steel is used on the occasion of removing slag produced on the surface of molten metal in general processes of manufacture of pig iron and steel or dross produced on the surface of plating bath in molten metal plating. In this case, the jig for iron manufacture is formed of a titanium alloy having an oxide film of 10μm or above provided on the surface. For instance, a dross scooping jig is constructed of a slag collecting part 21 and a support part 20 and a connecting part 20' is welded to the joint of these parts, while a handle 22 is provided at the end part of the support part 20. According to this constitution, the jig for iron manufacture being usable even at a high temperature and excellent in erosion resistance and enabling reduction of the weight is obtained.
