PURPOSE: To provide LiM<3+> O2 capable of using as a positive active material of a secondary battery with excellent charge/discharge performance in a simple operation by drying slurry prepared by reacting an alkaline water soluble lithium compound with a basic metal salt in a water medium, then baking it. CONSTITUTION: A basic metal salt represented by a formula of M<2+> (OH)2-nx (A<n-> )x .mH2 O, (in the formula, M<2+> represents at least one of Ni<2+> , Co<2+> , and Mn<2+> , A<n-> represents an anion of (n) valence, n=1-3, such as NO<-> 3 , Cl<-> , Br<-> , CH3 COO<-> , and CO<2-> 3 , and x and m are a positive number satisfying the relation of 0.03<=x<=0.3, and 0<=m<=2.) is reacted with an alkaline water soluble lithium compound in a water medium under a condition of a molar ratio of Li/M<2+> of 0.3-1.3. Slurry obtained is dried, and baked in an oxidizing atmosphere at about 500 deg.C or higher. Thereby, LiM<3+> O2 (M<3+> represents Ni<3+> or Co<3+> ) or LiMn2 O4 is manufactured. |
