PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of maintaining a display grade, such as contrast, in a good state even if the alignment of a substrate and a counter substrate is strictly executed. CONSTITUTION: Signal lines consisting of an opaque material are formed to an approximately comb shape having projecting parts 3a and are so arranged as to nearly fill spacings 2a between ITO electrodes 2. The signal lines, therefore, have a function as the light shielding films for shielding the light leaking from the spacings 2a in addition to a function as a bus line. Then, there is no need for forming a light shielding film, such as black matrix, on the counter substrate. Since there is no need for forming the light shielding film, the degradation in the display grade, such as contrast, does not arise, even if the alignment of both deviates slightly at the time of sticking the substrate and the counter substrate. |
