PURPOSE: To provide a frame to which a metallic cable drum having reinforcing plates on its outer ring can be easily fixed without using any wire rope, etc., and a method for fixing the drum to the frame. CONSTITUTION: A frame for metallic cable drum is constituted in such a way that the slope 31 of each supporting block 3 provided with the slope 31 which is brought into contact with the outer ring 11 of a metallic cable drum 1 and a leg section 34 protruded below the slope has a hole 32 through which the bolts of a fixture 4 having an inverted U-shaped hook section 41 which is hooked on one of the reinforcing plates 31 of a the drum l can be passed. The supporting block 3 is fixed to the reinforcing plate 12 through the holes 32.
