PURPOSE: To faithfully reproduce a target sound even though the amount of data, which are required to synthesize musical sounds, is small. CONSTITUTION: A sampled target sound Sn is compressed and coded by an encoder ENC through a subtractor ADD1 and the compressed data are expanded by a decoder DEC1 and returned to the original one. This is supplied as a signal to excite a loop circuit which consists of an adder ADD2, a filter FLT1, a delaying means DLY1 and a nonlinear circuit NL1, and this signal Sn', which is synthesized by the circuit, is fed back to the adder ADD1 as a subtracting signal. The compressed data from the encoder ENC are stored in an excited waveform memory DM as the data to synthesize musical sounds. |
