PURPOSE: To protect a compressor in refrigerant leakage state even in any operating state and to display the control content of the leakage by simultaneously monitoring the operating frequency, operating current of a compressor and indoor or outdoor heat exchanger capacity state. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises a refrigerant circulating system 5 in which a compressor 1, an indoor heat exchanger 2, a throttle mechanism 3 and an outdoor heat exchanger 4 are sequentially connected to a closed circuit, and which can operate to cool or heat. In this case, the operating frequency of the compressor 1 is detected by the detector, and the operating frequency of the compressor is detected by the detector. Further, a comparison calculation is conducted based on the detected frequency, current and the capacity of the indoor or outdoor exchanger, and the refrigerant leakage state is judged by deciding means. A refrigerant leakage controller and a control content display unit are operated in response to the decision result. |
