[Class 145 (i)] Apparatus for removing defective portions of wood comprises a rotary cutter 40 provided with an air blower 43 having a nozzle 46, and a table 2 on which the work is secured by a clamp jaw 38a having a vertical portion acted on by a screwed shaft having a handle 36. The cutter is fed down into the work by a lever 48, and the table 2 traversed by rack and pinion, so that a trench 22 is cut. A lug 10 on the table limits the travel by engaging a stop 11 and one of a number of stop pins 14 mounted on a rotatable member 15 indexed by a spring plunger. A filling strip 23 is pressed into the trench by a plate 24 on a plunger 26 actuated by a treadle 34. In an alternative arrangement, the cutter is carried on a slide which is traversed by a hand lever over the table, which is stationary; adjustable stop means are provided for limiting the lateral travel of the cutter. |
