PURPOSE: To sharply shorten mercury diffusing time and ageing time after mercury diffused by diffusing mercury by heating the inside of a panel in a vacuum condition on condition that the inside of the panel is not exposed to the atmosphere when the mercury is diffused. CONSTITUTION: When mercury is diffused in a gas discharge panel 10 by using a booster pipe part 14 in order to perform stabilizing ageing, the mercury is diffused in a condition where the inside of the panel 10 is put in a vacuum condition on condition that the inside of the panel 10 is not exposed to the atmosphere during initial ageing and the stabilizing ageing. When the inside of the panel 10 is put in a vacuum condition, diffusing resistance of the mercury is reduced, and mercury gas diffuses in the panel 10 in a short time. Since the mercury and discharge gas can be filled in the panel 10 on condition that it is not exposed to the atmosphere during the initial ageing and the stabilizing ageing, ageing time after the mercury is duffused can be shortened. |
