PURPOSE: To realize the juncture of optical waveguides and optical fibers which are freely attachable and detachable, has good workability and is small in size. CONSTITUTION: A block 40 for connection having a hole 44 for an optical waveguide chip opening at the rear face 420 of a main body 42 and holes 46 for optical fibers communicating with this hole 44 for the waveguide chip from a front face 422 is used (a). The optical waveguide chip 10 (b) connected with the optical fibers 11 to the respective waveguides is put into the hole 44 for the waveguide chip of this block 40 for connection, the optical fibers 11 are passed through the holes 46 for optical fibers and the front face is polished, by which an optical waveguide module 50 is constituted (c). This module and the optical connector 52 mounted at the front end of coated optical fibers 12 are butt connected (d). Since the direct use of the technique for producing the optical connector is possible, the juncture having excellent characteristics is obtd. |
