PURPOSE: To display a map in a regular reduction rate and regular size character by performing setting so that the range of a road map can be varied so that the road map can be displayed on the display screen in a specific reduction rate regardless of the size of the display screen. CONSTITUTION: When the size of a display screen is specified and inputted by a display range setting means, the range of a road map is variably set so that the road map is displayed in a specific reduction rate on the display screen. The road on the road map viewed on a standard screen in seen in the same reduction rate when viewed on a compact screen, thus enabling the map and characters to be seen easily on a compact screen. Although the edge part is missing, the vehicle position is displayed near the center. Further, a function for displaying a map in a specific reduction rate on the display screen and a function for displaying a road map in specific range on the display screen are switched arbitrarily for the convenience of a driver. |
