PURPOSE: To dispense with a circuit for preventing a rush current by removing the rush current at the time of power on. CONSTITUTION: A full wave rectifier circuit 32 is connected to a commercial AC power source 31, and a capacitor 35 is connected between the output terminals of this rectifier circuit through a diode 34, and a series circuit composed of a first half wave switch circuit 37 and a second half wave switch circuit 38 is connected in parallel with this capacitor 35. Moreover, a series circuit composed of a third half wave switch circuit 40 and a forth half wave switch circuit 41 is connected in parallel with a smoothing capacitor 39. A first coil 52 is connected between the junction between the first and second half wave switch circuits and the junction between the third and forth half wave switch circuits, and a discharge lamp 55 is connected through a capacitor 54 to the second coil 53 electrically coupled with this first coil. |
