<p>PURPOSE: To make high efficiency of the external storage device for handling an official portable recording medium by establishing a high speed processing method for fitting or removing the portable recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A housing rack 7/8 (virtual auto-loader) capable of being quickly fitted to and removing from a recording medium driving device in a library device for handling the portable recording medium is previously defined, and the official portable recording medium is moved into this housing rack. At the time of a request for fitting the official portable recording medium by a host device, the request is issued to the recording medium driving device defined by the virtual auto-loader. Then, when a request for removing the medium is issued to this recording medium driving device, if a load of an auto-carrier device is heavy, the removed protable recording medium is temporarily moved into the housing rack 8, and when the load of the auto-carrier device is lightened, the medium is moved into the normal housing rack. By this method, mounting processing of the offical portable recording medium can efficiently be performed, and hence the external storage device can efficiently be used.</p> |
