[Class 136 (i)] In mud - flaps for attachment to the ends of cycle &c. mudguards, and of the type comprising a flap a' of rubber, rubber and canvas, &c. provided at its upper end with a plate spring b having at each end a clip b<2> adapted to engage the mudguard stay, one or more strips c, c<1> are secured to the inside of the flap near its upper end, as by means of the rivets b<1> which secure the spring b, the strips c, c<1> being formed of a material, such as mild steel, adapted to be bent around the edges of the mudguard so as to hold the flap firmly in position, irrespective of the width and shape of the mudguard. An integral or attached extension a<2> is arranged to fold inwardly over the rivets b<1> and adjacent parts of the strips c, c<1> to protect the surface of the mudguard, the line of folding a<3> being reduced in thickness or otherwise weakened to facilitate bending.
