A low odor polyphenylene ether resin composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a composition comprising from 20 to 100% by weight of a polyphenylene ether and from 0 to 80% by weight of a styrenic resin, and (b) from 0.1 to 15 parts by weight of alumina comprising a transition alumina as a main component and having a medium particle diameter of 150 mu m or less and a BET specific surface area of 10 m<2>/g or more. The composition may comprise carbon black, rubbers, polyamides, polyolefins and inorganic fillers and fibres.
