METHOD FOR DESULFURATION OF GASES CONTAINING SULFUR DIOXIDE

FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing absorption of sulfur dioxide by aqueous solution of sulfide with following production of sulfite and bisulfite ions. Additional sulfur dioxide is absorbed by aqueous solution so that hydrogen sulfide is produced. Other portion of sulfur dioxide is absorbed and reacted with aqueous solution so that bisulfite is produced. In preferred version, bisulfite is decomposed into sulfur dioxide and sulfite. Sulfite is then reduced to sulfide and returned to absorption stage. Hydrogen sulfide may then react with sulfur dioxide so that elemental sulfur is produced. EFFECT: simplified conversion of sulfur dioxide into hydrogen sulfide.
