PURPOSE: To provide a developing device where the desired carrying amount of developer corresponding to a non-contact developing system is stably obtained and the adjustment of the strength of a force press-contacting a layer thickness regulating member to a developing roll is not needed in each developing device. CONSTITUTION: This developing device is provided with the developing roll 1 arranged to be opposed to a latent image carrier 5 and carrying two- component developer consisting of toner and carrier, and the layer thickness regulating member 2 formed of elastic material and press-contacting to the developing roll; and the layer thickness of the developer on the developing roll 1 is regulated by the regulating member 2 and a latent image on the latent image carrier 5 is developed at a developing area where the developing roll 1 is opposed to the latent image carrier 5. A rugged surface at least having ruggedness in the rotary shaft direction of the developing roll 1 is formed at a part where the regulating member 2 is allowed to press-contact to the developing roll 1 on the regulating member 2. |
