PURPOSE: To prevent the whitening or gelling of a resin binder even when the binder is dissolved in a solvent and to maintain superior electrophotographic characteristics over a long period of time by using polycarbonate contg. a biphenyl skeleton structure in a specified ratio as the binder. CONSTITUTION: This electrophotographic photoreceptor contains a polymer compd. consisting essentially of repeating units represented by formulae I, II as a resin binder in the photosensitive layer. In the formulae I, II W<1> is a group represented by formula III, W<2> is a single bond, -O-, -CO=, -S-, -SO-, -SO2 , -CR<63> R<64> R-, 5-11C 1,1-cycloalkylidene or 2-12Cα,ω-alkylene, each of R<50> , R<51> and R<53> -R<62> is halogen, 1-6C alkyl, 5-7C cycloalkyl or 6-12C optionally substd. aryl and each of A-L is an integer of 0-4.
