PURPOSE: To eliminate a need or coating a part again, to process plural fusion- connected parts at a time, and to surely protect and fix the part by coiling an optical fiber including the fusion-connected part and fixing this coiled part to a support substrate with an adhesive of low viscosity. CONSTITUTION: Optical fibers 1A and 1B including a part 2 between optical fibers 1A and 1B are coiled, and this coiled part 6 is fixed to a support substrate 4 with an adhesive 7 ' of low viscosity. A silicone adhesive can be used as this adhesive 7. The adhesive 7 has such degree of viscosity that it is sucked to gaps G of coiled optical fibers 1A and 1B by capillary action. When the adhesive 7 is allowed to flow ' from above along the ring of coiled optical fibers 1A and 1B, the adhesive 7 is sucked to gaps G of optical fibers by capillary action to coat the peripheral surfaces of optical fibers 1A and 1B including the weld part 2. The adhesive 7 is hardened to fix the coiled part 6, and the part 2 is protected. |
