<p>PURPOSE: To avoid the deterioration in quality of a reproduced image, by warning when the remaining amount of a tape is short and letting a user designate a tape speed. CONSTITUTION: When a cassette is inserted, a microcomputer 3 calculates the remaining amount of a tape, stores the amount and displays via a display circuit 7 to a television screen or a VTR display panel. When a program to be recorded is preselected, the microcomputer 3 detects whether or not the program can be completely recorded to the tape from a programmed time length, the tape speed and the remaining amount of the tape. If the program cannot be perfectly recorded, that is, the tape is short, a buzzer 6 is sounded and the fact is displayed. At this time, the tape speed is designated through a ten key of a remote controller 1. If the tape is still short with this designated speed, the buzzer 6 is sounded in the same manner as above and, the programmed recording is terminated while the display screen is kept to alarm the fact. When the cassette is replaced or the tape is rewound, the above sequence of operations is carried out again from the beginning.</p> |
