<p>A water purifier (10) for killing bacteria in water located in a confined area includes a water inlet (22), a water outlet (26), and a purification unit (36) that kills the bacteria in the water. A first fluid path is located between the water inlet (22) and the water outlet (26) so that water flowing along the first fluid path flows from the water inlet (22) to the water outlet (26) without passing through the purification unit (36), and includes a constricted region (30) that has a cross-sectional area that is smaller than a cross-sectional area of the water inlet (22). A second fluid flow path is located between the water inlet (22) and the water outlet (26), and includes the purification unit (36), so that water flowing along the second fluid flow path flows through the purification unit (36) as the water flows from the water inlet (22) to the water outlet (26). A self-adjusting flow regulator (32) is positioned in the constricted region (30) to automatically modify the cross-sectional area of the constricted region (30) to maintain a rate of flow along the second fluid path within a predetermined range as a combined rate of flow along the first and second fluid paths varies.</p> |
