PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive light reception module by eliminating a need of delicate optical axis adjustment in the module assembling process and to prevent the deviation of coupling due to oscillation, shock, and the change of temperature to improve the resistances to mechanical circumstances and thermal circumstances. CONSTITUTION: A taper fiber 2 having the rounded end and a semiconductor light reception chip 3 are fixed by a potting resin 4, and the internal element obtained by forming parts to a ferrule 1 and a lead 5 into one body by a mold 6 is inserted to a receptacle 8 together with a sleeve 7 and is sealed with a sealing resin 9, and the light reception element and the taper fiber 2 having the rounded end are fixed by a resin 4 and are formed into one body together with an optical coupling medium.
