PURPOSE: To prevent swelling of the surface of a roller with oil, to prevent chemical attacks by oil mist on resin members in each part of the device, and to enable stable fixing for a long term. CONSTITUTION: In this fixing device, a recording material which carries a multicolored and multilayered or single-color developed image before fixing is held and carried so that the developed image before fixing is fixed to a recording material. The surface layers of a fixing roller 1 and/or a pressing roller 2 include at least a layer comprising methyl silicone rubber. The methylphenyl silicone oil to be applied as a releasing agent to the rollers 1, 2 has such a feature that the low mol.wt. component less thanϕ4 cyclic siloxane is <=10% in terms of the peak area ratio to the whole silicone oil component in the gel-permeation chromatography.
