PURPOSE: To provide an optical deflector which is capable of stably rotating a rotary polyhedral mirror at a high speed by mounting this rotary polyhedral mirror on a motor which causes less vibration and rotational run-out and is short in rising time. CONSTITUTION: A rotary polyhedral mirror 6 is mounted on a motor of which rotor 7 has a permanent magnet 10 in its outer periphery and is held freely rotatably by a bearing 3, of which stator 11 is composed of a conductive magnetic substrate 17, a coil 14, a coil magnetic core and a stator magnetic pole 12 which this conductive magnetic substrate has a function as a yoke and is so disposed as to exist on the plane perpendicular to the central axis of rotation of the rotor, of which coil magnetic core 16 is fixed at its one end of the fixing part of the conductive magnetic substrate and at the other one end to the stator magnetic pole, of which coil 14 is wound on the outer periphery of the coil magnetic core 16 and arranged approximately circumferentially on the central axis of rotation and fixed to the conductive magnetic substrate or an electrical circuit board 19, of which coil terminals are electrically connected to electric circuit patterns, and of which the optical pole surface of the stator magnetic pole forms a magnetic gap in a radial direction by facing the rotor magnetic pole. |
