PLASMA DISPLAY, DRIVING CONTROLLER AND DRIVING METHOD FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: To provide the device and method for controlling luminance with which stable display with no flicker can be performed against the change of luminance control signal pulse width caused by instability in the fetch timing of a luminance control signal. CONSTITUTION: Concerning the plasma display provided with a luminance adjusting means 11 for generating a luminance control signal BC selectively changing a high luminance driving waveform and a low luminance driving waveform based on a luminance volume signal, the luminance adjusting means 11 is provided with a luminance control signal forming means 20 composed of a differential value output means 14 for calculating a differential value DFKV of luminance volume change information KV generated in a prescribed cycle from luminance volume change information KV' in the preceding cycle and a luminance control signal adjusting means 18 for comparing the output value from the differential value output means 14 with a prescribed reference value and deciding the output ratio of the high luminance waveform and the low luminance waveform contained in the luminance control signal in the cycle based on the compared result.
