PURPOSE: To prevent the seizure of seal parts in a face seal type threaded joint for an oil well pipe. CONSTITUTION: The length LP of a pin side threaded part 12 is made longer than the length LB of a box side seal part 22. The length LB of the seal part 22 is so set that the seal parts 12, 22 start interference in the state of the tip part of the seal part 12 entering inside the seal part 22. The sliding distance Ls of the seal parts 12, 22 is determined according to the outer diameter of a pipe by an expression: sliding distance LS<=-0.0093×(pipe outer diameter)<2> +-4.73×(pipe outer diameter).
