METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECISION OF POSITION FOR LINE SCANNING IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for detecting and correcting the skew and the shift of a picture on a document in a line scanning device. SOLUTION: The scanning picture is placed on a memory map and an optimum fit line deciding a left blank is calculated by using a leftmost picture element. An angle between the line and a vertical line is calculated and the picture in a memory is rotated by using the angle. The system 12 can be operated during scanning. The left blank is precisely decided by the leftmost picture element detection method extended for using a search area. The optimum fit line becomes more precise by newly calculating it by using only the leftmost picture element having a deviation within a prescribed value from the result of the standard deviation calculation of the leftmost picture element.
