METHOD OF RECYCLING USED MATERIALS

The invention concerns a process for recycling used material in which the used material undergoes a shaping process in the presence of a binder. The binder contains a lignocellulose-containing material which includes (for example) unsaturated carboxylic acids or derivatives thereof and (optionally) a thermoplastic material. The lignocellulose-containing material is capable of reacting with the unsaturated carboxylic acids or their derivatives in such a way that these components, optionally with the thermoplastic material, act as a binder and thus form a matrix in which the used material becomes embedded. This process can be used to convert the used materials into moulded articles such as pressed panels using conventional shaping processes such as simple press operations, and the articles produced have physical characteristics which make them suitable for further processing.
