PURPOSE: To obtain appropriate luminance even at low temperature enabling a cold cathode tube to be used for a long time by continuing lighting so as to obtain the appropriate temperature of the cold cathode tube in the unused state of equipment at the low temperature and turning on and heating the cold cathode tube when the off state of the cold cathode tube is continued for prescribed time at the low temperature. CONSTITUTION: The lighting is continued so as to obtain the approriate luminance of the cold cathode tube in the unused state of the equipment at the low temperature, and also, the cold cathode tube is turned on and heated when the off state of the cold cathode tube continues for the prescribed time. Thereby the appropriate luminance can be secured. A prescribed table with respect to a period and a time zone representing the low temperature, etc., is stored in a storage means 7. A control means 4 which reads information in the storage means 7 storing the table contains a low temperature time judging means which judges the period and the time zone representing the low temperature. Judgement on the unused state of a POS terminal is performed based on a key operation on a key pad 2, and such judgement is performed by the control means 4. Therefore the control means 4 contains also an equipment working state judging means. |
