The craft is remote controlled from a submarine and has a head section (2) with sensors. It can adopt a reconnaissance position in which the head projects above the water and can also extend from the remainder of the craft.The extending action may be achieved by using an inflatable bellows (30). An inflatable antenna section (70) may also be arranged on the head in order to extend with it. The stern (3) of the craft may be flooded with water in order to bring it into an upright position. The head may also have nozzles (53) from which compressed air is directed to clean the optical window (50) for the sensors.
