Heating system for heat embossing machine

The heating system for a hot embossing machine, especially for the colouration of vehicle licence plates, has an external heater as an infra red halogen radiator (10) in addition to the inner heater (6). An infra red filter (12) is between the infra red heater (10) and the surface of the embossing roller, in the path of the infra red beams. A sensor gives a non-contact measurement of the embossing roller surface temp., coupled to the infra red unit as a control circuit. The carrier for the embossing roller and/or the carrier of the heat compensation roller contain beryllium oxide. A silicon layer covers the copper cladding of the embossing roller, as a working layer. The filter is of silicon.
