The invention improves the handling of crutches in situations in which one is forced to let go of the grip part 3. This is achieved by a fixture 6 according to the invention which is secured by an elastic mechanism 8, 9 which comes into use in risk situations, arranged on branches in the upper part of the crutch handle. The fixture forms, with the upper part 5, a closed opening, by virtue of which the crutches can still be used and they remain supported on the forearms despite the hands having been removed from them. From this position, it is easy to go back to gripping with the hands when the function which required free hands has been completed. The fixture can also be used for hanging the crutches up, or it can be disengaged by pivoting it behind the upper part of the handle. <IMAGE>
