The carrier bag, with an inwards folding base, has an angled seam (6, 6', 12, 12') to join each of the two wall sections (4, 4') of the base fold (3) with the adjacent side walls (2, 2'), extending from each side seam (5, 5'). The carrier bag material is a polyethylene film with a thickness of at least 50 mu m as a blend of high density, medium density and linear low density polyethylene where the high density portion is greater than the sum of the other two.
