A blind comprises a plurality of slats, each slat having a self-supporting member (11) e.g. of aluminium or aluminium alloy, and a flexible covering (12) e.g. of cloth. On at least one side of the slat the covering is oversize and is fixed so as to be wrinkled. This gives an enhanced appearance. Additionally, air trapped in the wrinkles (14) improves the insulating properties of the blind. The slat may be made by feeding a strip (15) to form the self-supporting member and feeding at a faster rate a strip (16) to form the covering, and welding them together. A covering may also be provided on the other side of the slat, which may be either wrinkled or smooth. <IMAGE> |
