The device consists of a transport chain (4) in which bottle holders (2) or sleeves are mounted. The holders are placed over the bottles and the bottles have clearance. The bottles protrude from beneath the holders and slide on rails (5). A spray unit (11) with jets (12) is mounted above rows of transport chains.A shaft (6) is mounted under the rows of chains with its centreline at right-angles to the direction of movement of the chains. Sets of cams (7-10) are mounted on the shaft either side of the rails (5) over which the bottles slide. The cams rock the bottles inside the bottle holders (2), while the spray unit, above the bottles, is moved to and fro by a crank drive (6).
